The Founder's Story
At his annual medical check up, Andy Gloor was confronted with a high cholesterol reading. Urged by his physician to begin statin medication, Andy balked. At 28, he was reluctant to begin a lifetime of dependence on a statin drug. He knew there could be serious negative side effects.
He sought a healthier solution by combining foods that were known to lower cholesterol. With help from a food formulator, he developed CLUE nutrition bars using a powerful combination of cholesterol lowering ingredients. Andy started eating one bar every day, lowered the fat in his diet and began moderate exercise. In two months Andy's cholesterol was below 200. In three months, it was lower still. Andy accomplished this healthy milestone, lowering cholesterol with food and minor lifestyle changes. He never took a drug or suffered the side effects of statins. This amazing achievement led Andy's family and friends to ask for CLUE Bars themselves. At their urging, Andy began to manufacture CLUE Bars in 2003. That was the beginning of DEL MAR Nutrition, providing cholesterol lowering foods for a heart healthy diet.
